Tennessee Deputy Dies While On Duty

Humphreys County Deputy Tase Sturgill was meeting with other members of the Sheriff's Office at Waverly Central High School to work on a physical fitness program for the agency when he became ill and lost consciousness.

A Humphreys County, Tennessee Sheriff's deputy died Thursday after suffering a fatal heart attack while on duty.

Deputy Tase Sturgill was meeting with other members of the Sheriff's Office at Waverly Central High School to work on a physical fitness program for the agency when he became ill and lost consciousness, according to a news release.

Responders from the Waverly Police Department , AMR and Air Evac all arrived on scene and attempted to revive Sturgill, but were unsucessful.

Tase served as the department's training officer and also served as our jail administrator. He was also known as the agency's Handgun Carry Permit Instructor.

Funeral arrangements

Visitation will be held July 1 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and July 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hurricane Chapel Church

Funeral services will be on July 2 at 2 p.m. at the church.
