Texas Deputy Constable Dies After Collision
A Bell County, Texas deputy constable died hours after a two-vehicle crash Wednesday night.
Deputy Constable Jeffrey Radford was on his way back from serving papers in Troy when his vehicle collided with a grey Ford SUV shortly before 7 p.m. at the intersection of Lucius McCelvey Dr. and N.E. HK Dodgen Loop, according to KXXV-TV.
Radford was transported to Baylor Scott & White Health in Temple in critical condition where he succumbed to his injuries.
The two occupants of the SUV were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The 69-year-old deputy constable had been with the department for two years and was assigned to the Bell County Precinct 3 Constable's Office.
"Please keep Deputy Radford 's family and the members of precinct 3 Constable's Office in your thoughts and prayers," Temple Police Cpl. Christopher Wilcox said.
Authorities were not sure what caused the crash, which remains under investigation.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
