A Kentucky State Police trooper was killed in a crash Tuesday evening.
Trooper Eric K. Chrisman was driving his cruiser westbound on U.S. 62 while responding to a reckless driving complain when the crash occurred shortly before 6 p.m., according to WKYT-TV.
Officials say the trooper's cruiser crossed into the eastbound lane into the path of an oncoming tractor-trailer.
Chrisman was pronounced dead at the scene by the Livingston County Coroner.
The tractor trailer driver was taken to the Marshall County Hospital for treatment of injuries and has since been released.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
The rookie trooper graduated from the academy, Class 92, in January of this year and was assigned to Lyon County.
Chrisman is survived by his parents and two siblings.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
