Kentucky Deputy Killed in Three-Vehicle Crash
A Nicholasville, Ky. police officer was killed Wednesday morning in a three-vehicle crash.
Officer Burke Rhoads was en route training in Richmond when a collision occurred between his cruiser, a black SUV and a white sedan occurred shortly after 7 a.m. at the intersection of Rogers Road and US 27 in Garrard County, according to WKYT-TV.
Rhoads was rushed to University of Kentucky Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Kentucky State Police Trooper Paul Blanton said the sedan turned off Rogers Road onto U.S. 27, striking the cruiser. The cruiser then spun backwards into oncoming traffic when it was hit by the black SUV.
The driver of the white car is a woman who was treated and released from a local hospital. The driver of the black SUV was taken to University of Kentucky Hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
Officer Rhoads, an 8-year veteran of the force leaves behind a wife and three children.
The crash is currently under investigation.
