Memorial services will be held Sept. 11 for a Texas deputy who died last week of injuries sustained in a crash several years ago.
Harrison County Deputy Michael Neal Freeman, 61, suffered extensive injuries in a crash during a high-speed chase in 2007.
The vehicle being pursued struck Freeman's cruiser at about 100 mph, according to reports.
The impact sent Freeman's patrol car into oncoming traffic where it was hit by two vehicles.
The crash seriously injured the deputy, forcing him to retire.
The 28-year lawman suffered severe head and neck injuries. His condition worsened and he was left bedridden and on a ventilator. He died Sept. 8.
He is survived by his wife and three children.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, at the Colonial Chapel of Sullivan Funeral Home, with Elder Anita Williams officiating.
