Off-Duty Puerto Rico Officer Gunned Down

Agent Emiliano Torres Soto was off-duty when he reportedly trying to intervene with a gunman; identifying himself as an officer before he was killed.

An off-duty agent with the Puerto Rico Police Department was killed while reportedly trying to intervene with a gunman, according to El Nuevo Dia.

Agent Emiliano Torres Soto, 32, was in the parking lot of the Plaza Santa Isabel mall at approximately 5 a.m. when he spotted an armed person, Capt. Diosdado Perez told the newspaper.

Soto identified himself as an officer and was gunned down by the suspect.

The 10-year veteran was transported to San Cristobal Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
