Missouri Police Major Dies of Complications from COVID-19

Kennett Police Major Rick Groves, a 35-year veteran of the department, died on Friday of complications from COVID-19.

KENNETT, Missouri -- A major with the Kennett Police Department died on Friday of complications from COVID-19.

Major Rick Groves served with the department for 35 years

He is survived by his five children.

The Kennett Police Department released the following details on funeral arrangements for Major Groves:

Visitation will be held, Monday, October 19, 2020 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 P.M at the McDaniel Funeral Home, 115 South Bypass, Kennett, Missouri.

A full Honors Funeral Service Will be held starting at 2:30 PM at the Kennett High School Football Stadium with procession to follow to Dunklin Memorial Gardens where a brief graveside service will be held.

All ceremonies are open to the public.

Citizens wishing to pay respects to Major Groves, his family and the Kennett Police Department but unable to attend the full service may wish to line St. Francis Street to view the procession.
