LENOIR COUNTY, N.C. — Lenoir County law enforcement issued 88 charges during a targeted highway safety operation conducted Saturday, Jan. 3, as part of the Governor’s Highway Safety Program (GHSP) “Booze It & Lose It” campaign. The initiative focused on La Grange and Seven Springs roadways.
The operation was led by Sheriff Jackie Rogers, Chief Deputy C. Owens, and Assistant District Attorney Mike Muskus. Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) personnel, including the Crash Reduction Team, Street Crimes and Rapid Response Team, and Patrol Division A Shift, were joined by officers from Onslow, Craven, Duplin, and Jones counties, as well as Pink Hill Police Department and the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
Charges issued included three driving while impaired (DWI), 17 speeding violations, two reckless driving offenses, three driving while license revoked, six criminal charges, four felony drug charges, and three misdemeanor drug charges. Law enforcement also executed two felony warrants and one misdemeanor order for arrest and issued 25 warnings.
The operation was coordinated with the Lenoir County District Attorney’s Office, Magistrate’s Office, Detention Center, Emergency Communications, and supported by the North Carolina Forensic Testing for Alcohol Branch, which provided a mobile testing bus in La Grange.
