Derry police are searching for the driver of an SUV that struck an officer with a mirror as it passed him Wednesday morning on Chester Road, officials said.
At 11:22 a.m. Wednesday, Derry police say an officer was directing traffic at a construction site at the intersection of Chester and North Shore roads when a maroon Subaru Forester traveling eastbound struck him with its right-side mirror, causing the mirror housing to break.
The officer received a minor injury to his arm, police said. The vehicle paused briefly but then resumed heading eastbound on Chester Road, police said.
Derry police said witnesses described the driver as an older female wearing eyeglasses.
Derry police are investigating the incident as conduct after an accident (hit and run).
