A trooper was seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash on a Western Massachusetts highway early Tuesday morning.
The incident happened just after 2:20 a.m. on June 10, on the westbound side of Interstate 90 near exit 51 in Chicopee, according to Massachusetts State Police.
The trooper had been working a motor vehicle stop near the exit when they were struck by another vehicle, police said.
The driver who struck the trooper did not remain at the scene of the crash, police said.
The trooper was seriously injured from the collision, and was brought to the Baystate Medical Center.
All westbound lanes of the highway were closed after the crash. They have since reopened as of Tuesday morning.
The crash is under investigation by Massachusetts State Police and troopers assigned to the Hampden County District Attorney’s Office.
