Los Angeles Sheriff's Deputy Seriously Injured in Crash

A Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputy was seriously injured in a crash Wednesday evening.
The crash occurred about 5:10 p.m. near the intersection of 18th Street East and Avenue Q, according to KTLA-TV.
Officials said that the deputy was responding to a medical emergency when the driver of a Honda attempted to make a left turn in front of him and collided with his SUV.
The deputy's SUV then slammed into a tree and hit a fire hydrant and rolled before coming to rest on its side against a light pole.
The deputy was transported to a local hospital with serious injures, but his condition quickly improved and he was discharged Wednesday night.
The driver of the Honda and his passenger were treated and released from the hospital.
The crash is currently under investigation.
