A Frederick County sheriff's deputy was flown to a Baltimore trauma center as a precaution Wednesday night after he was struck by a car during a traffic stop, authorities said.
Deputy First Class Greg Morton pulled over a woman who was driving erratically at about 10:15 p.m. on Md. 144 near Linganore Road, said Lt. Ron Hibbard of the Frederick County Sheriff's Office.
The deputy was standing near his cruiser when he was struck by the car, Hibbard said. The driver of the car that struck Hibbard stopped and was interviewed by deputies. Hibbard said while he didn't anticipate any charges filed against that person, an investigation was ongoing.
Morton was driven in an ambulance to a Maryland State Police hangar, where he was flown to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, Hibbard said. Additional details about Morton's condition were unavailable Wednesday night.
The woman who Morton stopped was taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital for an evaluation, Hibbard said.
