A 17-year-old boy injured last weekend in a collision with a King County sheriff's deputy in Kent has died, the department confirmed today.

The teen has not been identified.

The accident happened about 12:30 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of South 296th and South 68th streets. Sheriff's spokeswoman Cindi West said the patrol car was heading south on South 68th and the teen was driving an Acura east on 196th.

"Both vehicles entered the intersection around the same time," she said. "The patrol car struck the driver's side of the Acura."

It's unclear who was at fault for the wreck. West said the deputy had a green light.

The teen was taken to Harborview Medical Center with critical injuries and later died. The deputy suffered a broken wrist. The teen's two passengers sustained minor injuries.
