Cobb County Sheriff Neil Warren and his chief deputy were injured in a wreck on southbound I-75, the Georgia State Patrol said.
Warren and chief deputy Milton Beck suffer minor injuries, and Warren was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment, authorities said.
All southbound lanes were blocked just south of the Northside Drive exit before the Brookwood Exchange at the outset of the wreck just before 2 p.m., authorities said.
All lanes reopened by 3:30 p.m. after troopers and other emergency staff removed debris from the highway.
The sheriff's vehicle was stuck by a Ford pickup truck hauling a trailer that crossed all southbound lanes when the driver of the truck lost control, troopers said.
Jeffrey Ronald Collins, the 40-year-old driver of the Ford from Loganville, was charged with failure to maintain lane, troopers said. Neither Collins nor his passenger were injured, authorities said.
