Police in Albany, Ga. say a young woman learned a valuable lesson after she rammed a police cruiser while she was texting and driving.

The collision occurred Tuesday morning when 22-year-old Lauren Owens' Nissan Pathfinder slammed into the cruiser around 2:30 a.m. before careening into a parked vehicle, according to WALB-TV.

Officer Garnet Lincey was transported to a local hospital for treatment and has since been released.

"It is against the law to text and drive in the state of Georgia and this clearly shows the potential danger that could cause," Albany Police Department Spokeswoman Phyllis Banks told the news station.

Owens faces charges including failure to maintain a lane, texting while driving, and not having her license.
