Mississippi Police Officer Injured in Cruiser Crash

Tishomingo Officer Timothy W. Williamson was airlifted to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, and later to The MED in Memphis, where he remains in serious condition.

IUKA, Miss. --A Tishomingo city police officer remains in the hospital following a crash Saturday night.

Officer Timothy W. Williamson, 47, of Iuka, was patrolling west on Highway 30 near the intersection of Highway 25 when a 2008 Nissan Altima, driven by Joseph H. Kain, 21, of Burnsville, hit the patrol car. The incident occurred about 8:45 p.m.

Williamson was airlifted to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, and later to The MED in Memphis, where he remains in serious condition, said Trooper Ray Hall with the Highway Patrol. His injuries are not life-threatening.

Kain was airlifted to North Mississippi Medical Center with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

The Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
