A 27-year-old Blakely man -- who after his arrest told police he consumed "a lot" of prescription medication -- led Blakely and Dickson City police on a car chase through the Midvalley on Friday after he became a suspect in two burglaries, Blakely police said.
Jonathan P. Paciotti, 758 Crystal St., now faces felony charges of burglary, criminal trespass, receiving stolen property and driving while impaired after he ran several vehicles off the road in his red Honda Civic, police said. The chase spanned Dickson City, Blakely and Archbald, arrest papers said.
The incident began when two of the victims of a burglary on Grassy Island Avenue in Jessup spotted Mr. Paciotti stopped at the Convenient Food Mart in the 1500 block of Main Street in Dickson City on Friday, arrest papers said. Mr. Paciotti was a suspect in the burglary, police said.
The victims saw him toss a purse into a garbage can at the store, which police said had identification in it that would later tie Mr. Paciotti to the burglary of a home on the 700 block of Keystone Ave. in Blakely, arrest papers said.
According to the criminal complaint, when police arrived at the store, they saw Mr. Paciotti drive by. They tried to stop him in a parking lot, but he drove off. Police followed him onto Main Street in Blakely and later onto Wildcat Road toward Archbald.
Police eventually boxed in his car on Business Route 6 in Archbald.
When he was taken into custody Friday afternoon, Mr. Paciotti allegedly admitted to officers that he "took a lot of Xanax" Friday, arrest papers said.
He also allegedly admitted burglarizing the Jessup and Blakely homes. Inside his car, police allegedly found several guns taken from the Blakely home.
Mr. Paciotti was arraigned Friday night and placed in the Lackawanna County Prison in lieu of $50,000 straight bail.
