Pittsburgh Officer Dragged After Waking Driver

Police said when the Pittsburgh officer tried to wake the sleeping driver, the driver immediately took off.

EAST LIBERTY, Pa. --

According to dispatchers, a Pittsburgh Police Officer was dragged 15 feet after attempting to wake a sleeping motorist.

The incident happened just after midnight Wednesday in the 100 block of South Negley Avenue in East Liberty.

Police said when the officer tried to wake the sleeping driver, the driver immediately took off.

The officer suffered injuries to his knees and was rushed to Mercy Hospital.

Police said that the officer is OK, and is now recovering at home.
