A motorcyclist and a Chicago police officer were injured in a head-on traffic crash this morning on the city's South Side.
The motorcycle collided with a marked police SUV around 2 a.m. in the 8500 block of South Chicago Avenue, police said, citing early reports.
The motorcyclist, a man whose age wasn't immediately known, was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious condition, said Officer Hector Alfaro, a police spokesman. The man's injuries are not thought to be life-threatening, though he did suffer some broken bones, police said.
The officer was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in good condition.
Police had no additional details on the crash and it remained unclear whether any tickets were issued.
