Texas Deputy Killed, Another Hurt in Crash

A Brazoria County deputy was killed and another deputy was injured after their cruiser and pickup truck collided Sunday night, according to KRIV-TV.

Deputy Charles Allen Vanmeter was killed in the crash that occurred shortly before 10 p.m. at the intersection of State Highway 6 and FM 1128.

The driver of the truck turned in front of the cruiser, failing to yield the right of way, investigators told the news station.

The other deputy was transported by helicopter to Memorial Hermann Hospital - Texas Medical Center along with the driver and passenger of the pickup truck.
