Genetec Expands Security Center SaaS Investigation Capabilities for Large-Scale Security Operations
What to Know
- Supports multi-site, multi-vendor investigations with unified search and evidence management tools.
- Utilizes AI-powered natural language search to quickly locate relevant footage across diverse camera systems.
- Enables investigators to refine searches with contextual indicators like location and activity patterns.
Genetec Inc. announced new investigation capabilities for Genetec Security Center SaaS aimed at helping security and law enforcement organizations conduct faster, more efficient investigations across complex, multi-site, and multi-vendor environments.
According to the company, the updates are designed to reduce investigation timelines from hours to minutes by allowing investigators to search, analyze, and manage evidence across large camera networks and mixed technology ecosystems without switching systems or restarting searches as cases evolve.
Investigations involving security incidents often span multiple facilities and jurisdictions and rely on footage from hundreds or thousands of cameras from different manufacturers. Genetec said traditional investigation tools, particularly those built for closed or single-vendor systems, can slow investigative workflows as incidents expand beyond their initial scope.
The new capabilities build on intelligent search tools introduced previously and focus on maintaining continuity throughout an investigation. Evidence, contextual information, and investigative decisions remain connected from the initial incident report through case closure, reducing duplication of effort as new leads emerge.
“When an incident occurs, security teams must act fast and follow the investigation wherever it leads, even with limited initial details,” said Anne-Cécile Millot-Tournier, Product Group Director, Intelligent Automation, Genetec Inc. “Unlike tools built for closed, single-vendor systems, the new investigation capabilities in Security Center SaaS are built for enterprise environments, enabling teams to work across thousands of cameras, multiple sites, and mixed ecosystems without switching systems or launching separate searches as new leads emerge.”
Genetec said investigations can begin with limited information, such as approximate timeframes or partial descriptions, and use natural language search powered by artificial intelligence to query video feeds across multiple locations and camera brands. Investigators can refine results using contextual indicators such as location data, surrounding activity, and events occurring before or after the incident.
As potential evidence is identified, investigators can use timeline previews to quickly scan footage, confirm relevant moments, and narrow time ranges without loading full video recordings. The system also allows users to track people, vehicles, and objects across scenes using trajectory analysis to visualize movement patterns and understand how incidents unfolded over time.
As investigations progress, evidence can be consolidated into a single case file. Video clips, images, and related materials are organized chronologically and enriched with contextual data and tags, creating a structured visual narrative of events. Genetec said AI-assisted features, including automated video clip summaries, are intended to support documentation, reporting, and information sharing with internal and external stakeholders.
The investigation tools integrate natural language search, similarity detection, entry and exit detection, contextual analysis, trajectory visualization, and evidence management into a single interface. According to Genetec, this allows security and law enforcement personnel to transition from live monitoring to active investigations and case management without changing platforms.
Genetec said the new investigation capabilities will begin rolling out to Security Center SaaS users in February 2026, with additional functionality introduced on an ongoing basis. The company said the updates are intended to support transparency and operator control while helping organizations return to normal operations more quickly after incidents are resolved.
