Wilmington, Massachusetts (May 27, 2015) –Rigaku Analytical Devices, a leading pioneer of handheld and portable Raman spectrometers, has unveiled a new software release for Progeny™ ResQ™ giving users the ability to capture high quality digital photographs of samples using the integrated digital camera. This unique capability supports the increasing demand for comprehensive documentation of crime scene evidence, rapid response efforts for HazMat incidents, and other demanding chain of custody applications. Rigaku showcased Progeny ResQ and demonstrating these new capabilities at the IAFC Hazmat Conference (Baltimore, MD from May 29 – 30)Designed with customer needs in mind, Progeny ResQ provides the industry’s most comprehensive library with over 12,000 common materials, TICs/TIMs, CWAs and explosives along with 300 critical compounds. Incrementally building off of the existing capability of barcode recognition, the integrated camera that is built into the front end, is now capable of capturing images of test samples and seamlessly integrating them into the results database. Captured images are automatically linked to analysis reports where they can be viewed on the instrument or exported to a computer. This is a critical capability for HazMat, EOD, and First Responders, as it streamlines the integration of data and site characterization for risk assessments. By integrating two streams of information, operators no longer need to manually record identifying characteristics of samples to then link to data results later. As a result, this reduces the time spent in extreme environments and hazardous conditions, and substantially more reliable data quality. “We are committed to providing our customers with ground breaking technologies and software to enable them to achieve their analytical goals, which is why we place innovation at the core of everything we do. Progeny ResQ has been designed with the needs of the end user in mind and the addition of this new feature will further enhance the powerful chemical detection capabilities of the device,” explains Eric Roy, Product Manager at Rigaku Analytical Devices. “Having launched Progeny ResQ at the start of this year, the availability of this new upgrade demonstrates the rapid pace at which we continue to invest in our technologies.”Further feature updates include the addition of new compounds to the instrument’s library, as well as further improvements in analysis speed and usability. With its unique 1064nm excitation laser Progeny ResQ can measure colored solids and liquids as well as substances through containers, overcoming issues of fluorescence interference that affect other handheld Raman devices.Beginning today, all Progeny ResQ instruments leaving the production facility in Wilmington, MA will include these exciting capabilities, and existing customers will be able to unlock this feature through a free software update. The new feature release has also been added to Rigaku’s Progeny analyzers for Pharmaceutical applications as well.To find out more, or for an on-site demonstration please contact [email protected] or visit, www.rigakuanalytical.com
