CHICAGO -- Motorola Solutions has announced the launch of Assist Suites, a portfolio of role-based artificial intelligence tools designed to help public safety agencies reduce administrative workload and improve operational decision-making.
According to the company, Assist Suites integrate data from multiple public safety systems — including 911 call audio, body-worn and in-car camera footage, radio traffic, and transcripts — into a single intelligence stream intended to support dispatchers and sworn personnel during emergency response and post-incident documentation.
The new offering includes two primary components: the Dispatcher Assist Suite and the Responder Assist Suite. Each is designed to address role-specific operational demands within public safety agencies.
The Dispatcher Assist Suite is intended to streamline 911 call intake, verification, and coordination. Motorola Solutions said the platform provides real-time transcription and translation to help address language barriers, which research cited by the company indicates can add an average of 70 seconds to emergency calls. The system can also identify keywords related to threats or medical emergencies and surface suggested actions for call handlers.
In addition, the suite can automate triage of non-emergency calls, which Motorola Solutions said can represent up to 65% of call-handling workloads in some jurisdictions. The company said this capability is designed to allow telecommunicators to focus on high-priority incidents requiring immediate human attention.
“Real-time transcription and call summary give telecommunicators the important parts of the 911 call in real-time to send to responders,” said Stephen Kennedy, assistant county administrator for the Board of Sumter County Commissioners in Florida. “They aren’t losing anything, and they don’t have to lose time checking the details; it’s right in front of them.”
The Responder Assist Suite focuses on field operations, officer safety, and report writing. Motorola Solutions cited research indicating that half of officers report receiving incident information en route that differs from what they encounter on scene. The company said the suite provides verified, multi-source intelligence prior to arrival and allows officers to access agency data through voice-activated queries while maintaining situational awareness.
The suite also includes tools to automatically tag digital evidence and redact sensitive subjects or objects to support records management and privacy requirements.
A central feature of the Responder Assist Suite is Narrative Assist, an AI-powered report-writing tool. Motorola Solutions said Narrative Assist cross-references an officer’s account with available incident data to verify details, flag discrepancies for officer review, and maintain a clear audit log of AI-generated suggestions. The company emphasized that officers retain final control over report content.
“Motorola Solutions has helped us step into modern policing and made our department a lot more efficient, easily saving us up to 40 hours a week with these AI technologies,” said Sgt. Michael Sellner of the White Bear Lake Police Department in Minnesota. “We’ve seen Narrative Assist cut report writing time from an hour down to 15 minutes and Redaction Assist drop video redaction time from 35 hours to just one.”
Motorola Solutions said Assist Suites were developed in response to what it described as dual challenges facing public safety agencies: increasing volumes of digital data and ongoing staffing shortages. Research cited by the company indicates that nearly half of a 911 call handler’s time is spent verifying information, while officers spend approximately 40% of their shift on administrative tasks.
“In public safety, time can be the difference between a successful outcome and a tragedy,” said Mahesh Saptharishi, executive vice president and chief technology officer at Motorola Solutions. “Assist saves time and time saves lives.”
The company said additional role-based AI suites are planned later this year to support other public safety and enterprise security functions. Assist Suites are available through a per-user, per-month pricing model, allowing agencies to deploy tools based on specific roles rather than agency-wide licensing.
