Austin, TX – March 12, 2015 Motion Computing today announced that the Ada County Sheriff’s Office in Idaho has armed its more than 155 deputies with Motion F5 tablets, in-vehicle docks and desktop mounts to allow for more frequent and successful use of e-citations and other emerging criminal justice applications. Intended to replace older, end-of-life mobile computers that long denied law enforcement officers access to their most frequently used field applications, Motion’s technology provides both easy, out-of-vehicle use as well as increased data processing speed for faster situational analysis capabilities during incident response.
“Our deputies found that the rugged tablets we had previously issued them were bulky and heavy. The tablets were also slow and unable to support today’s modern law enforcement software and applications,” explained Kelsey Proctor, Ada County Sheriff’s Office. “As Idaho’s largest law enforcement agency, it is critical to maximize our resources and invest in solutions that make our operations more efficient, and our officers more productive and effective in the field and in the office.”
The Windows®-based Motion F5 tablet solution has already expanded officers’ incident response and reporting capabilities simply by giving them a rugged, yet highly-mobile device they can easily take out of the vehicle for note-taking and on-scene information requests. The integrated RFID scanner, camera and network connectivity also allow for fast data and image sharing with dispatch, headquarters and other investigators that may be involved from elsewhere. The accompanying in-vehicle docking mount allows for secure transport of the tablet and instant information access to maps or dispatch updates while en route.
Motion Tablets comply with all Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) requirements, allowing for the use of new law enforcement software that streamlines data management and communications between field teams and headquarters. Ada County has far exceeded cost-saving and improved productivity expectations early in the deployment. As a result, the department has also introduced new dispatching and police reporting systems that utilize the Motion F5 tablets to centralize remote operations and eliminate the need for officers to return to the office to complete those tasks.
“Motion’s mobility solutions have already proven their ability to protect both our people – employees and citizens – and pockets,” Proctor continued. “We trust the Motion F5 tablet to direct our deputies to the right place and give them the information they need to perform their jobs in the field quickly, accurately and efficiently. As a result, we’re exploring new ways to leverage Motion’s technology to mobilize our other employees, including our detention deputies and health services staff working in our jail and detectives that need a mobile “desktop” solution, that will allow them to work away from their desks without losing productivity.”
