The Community Watch app is available to download from the Apple Store and Google Play and allows you to take a photo or video of any criminal activity and have it uploaded to the app. This allows users to notify and alert your neighbors as to what is going on in their neighborhood.
It only takes five seconds for the video to upload to the app where it can be kept as evidence of the crime. It can also be used to record non emergencies and hazardous conditions such as closed roads due to a fallen tree or even streets that are blocked off during a snowstorm. For example if a fight breaks out in the street and you know that it is the time children are set to return from school, when the video is uploaded neighbors will be alerted so that they are able to possibly take an alternative route.
After a crime it can be difficult to recall details that could be used to convict a criminal without the need for sketch artists and recollection of a crime after it has taken place. All you have to do is add the people to the list you wish to share local information with and your friends and family can be aware of a crime taking place and of areas they need to avoid.
Users are able to take a picture or record videos of vandalism over public property , groups embarking in antisocial behavior or a burglary as it takes place or afterwards so that the police can identify the individuals. Many areas do not have enough police to be able to cover every area at all times, so .who better to be a watch eye to the community then the neighbors themselves. The great thing about this app is that it is anonymous and free to use.
Lots of people who now know about the app that have witnessed crime or been unfortunate enough to be a victim have said how the app could have helped them greatly. Since the release of Community Watch in January 2016, non-emergency incidents have been corrected and crimes have been solved from this simple app. It takes very little time to download and could make your neighborhood a safer place to be. It’s easy to use and with most people now owning a smartphone allows more and more people to report crime without the fear of retribution.
Available free for iOS 7.1+, universal app for iPhone and Android.
