Michael McElroy is the Director of the Information Technology Bureau for the Fairfax County Police Department in Virginia. His career in law enforcement began in 1976 as an officer with the Fairfax County Police Department, and after serving 24 years, McElroy retired in 2000 as Detective. After his retirement, McElroy transitioned into an IT role, working as the IT Manager in Fairfax County Public Schools until 2006. From 2006-2016, he was the Information Technology Program Manager for Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department, and earlier this year McElroy returned to the Fairfax County Police Department as the IT Director, managing IT budgets and overseeing the deployment of devices and software for the agency.
