CalAmp Corp. introduced its Sentry 2500 and Vanguard-LTE, two next generation wireless broadband networking platforms for mobile and fixed data applications, at the International Wireless Communications Expo. These new products are designed to support CalAmp customers with 4G solutions in public safety mobile data, smart grid communications, high speed SCADA/Telemetry, rail automation, and a host of other mission critical data applications.
CalAmp’s Sentry 2500 provides simultaneous high-speed 4G WiMax connectivity with 3G fallback. Based on IEEE 802.16e-2005 and 3GPP TS 36.101 standards, the Sentry features extensive routing capabilities with an easy-to-use interface and comprehensive remote management capability. Built-in GPS, two ethernet ports and an optional 802.11 b/g interface with simultaneous access point and client operation allows both WAN and LAN connectivity. Sentry 2500 is designed for public or private networks and is the only true ruggedized mobile Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) with integrated WiMAX, EVDO, 1xRTT, GPS and Wi-Fi. Rule-based switching for 4G/3G/WiFi enables user-configurable control such as segregating certain traffic to specific bearers and choosing 4G/3G fallback to help ensure continuous network connectivity.
The Vanguard-LTE offers a single, flexible platform to address both mobile and fixed wireless communications needs. This broadband router enables wireless data connectivity for up to two LAN devices and one serial device over public and private LTE networks at 4G speeds. The Vanguard LTE will support public safety 700 MHz Band 14 implementations as infrastructure is deployed in this spectrum. Vanguard provides reliable connectivity for all types of mobile computing devices, web-enabled cameras, and any ethernet or serial appliance. Original equipment manufacturers may tailor the Vanguard by loading their application on the Open Developer Platform (ODP) that allows a Linux application to run on a partition of the embedded Linux operating system.
