Oct. 04--SACRAMENTO -- The Sac State Police Department is warning students about two suspicious males posing as security officers on campus.

A female student reported that on Monday around 1:00 p.m., she was approached by these two men at the school's River Front Center.

They told her they were conducting an investigation and needed her assistance. They asked her to go with them to a nearby parking lot to assist in their investigation.

The female student refused and quickly contacted Sac State Police.

The first male is being described as a white male, in his late 40s to early 50s, 5'11", fit build, with light brown hair, wearing a white and blue plaid shirt with blue jeans.

The second male is being described as a Hispanic male, also in his late 40s or early 50s, 5'11", heavy build, wearing a plain black t¿shirt.

The Sac State Police Department wants to clarify that they do not employ security officers in plain clothing, nor does the department routinely use officers in plain clothing to conduct investigations.

Students are entitled to request to see an official ID or badge if stopped by a police officer, as well as call the Sac State Police Department to confirm the officer's identity.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or may have additional information about these two males are urged to contact the Sac State Police Department at (916) 278¿6851. Callers may remain anonymous.
