The Communicator! NXT emergency notification system

Aug. 31, 2010

Cassidian Communications, an EADS North America company, announced the availability of The Communicator! NXT emergency notification solution, version 4.2.0. The latest release of this critically acclaimed software provides enhanced functionality, including a number of client-requested features specifically designed to augment the communications capabilities of public- and private-sector organizations around the world.

Among the enhancements to The Communicator! NXT solution is a cascade calling feature, which allows users to execute priority-based notification through tiered sequencing of contacts. For example, organizations can now call a list of employees for overtime when rules dictate that people be contacted in a specific order, be given a certain amount of time to respond, or contact different teams in parallel. Additionally, the release includes enhancements to the application’s “Instant Activation” feature, letting users easily save or discard scenario information and display advanced settings for greater usability.

Through an expanded relationship with Onset Technology, Inc., BlackBerry pin-to-pin messaging also is available with The Communicator! NXT solution, version 4.2.0. This high-demand feature enables messages to bypass traditional carrier infrastructure for voice and SMS, sending direct, device-to-device notification should e-mail, voice and text messaging may fail.

Clients implementing the new version will discover increased throughput of text messages with PlantCML’s expanded SMS gateway, as well as the option to implement the company’s much-anticipated Survey module. This powerful add-on allows users of The Communicator! NXT solution to poll any number of individuals via outbound telephone call or e-mail for the purpose of collecting detailed responses concerning scheduling, customer satisfaction, event planning, HR enrollment and other topics.

The Communicator! NXT emergency notification solution, offered as an on-premise, hosted or hybrid deployment, provides automatic, list-driven communication with target
audiences, including employees, community leaders and crisis response teams. Once
activated, the web-based application rapidly distributes messages containing event-related information or potentially life-saving instruction via a wide variety of voice and text methods, including telephone (landline and cellular), SMS, e-mail and fax. The solution also gathers critical feedback, such as ETA of responders and “Are you okay?” status, if required, confirming response times and enabling faster, more informed decision-making in all types of contingencies such as natural disasters or pandemics.
