TANEYTOWN, Maryland -- Listen, your neighbors don’t want to see your unmentionables.
File this under: This shouldn’t need to be said.
But police in a Maryland town have found it necessary to remind citizens to not go out nude in public.
The Taneytown Police Department shared their message on Facebook.
“Please remember to put pants on before leaving the house to check your mailbox. You know who you are. This is your final warning.”
The post didn’t expand on the issue, leaving one to wonder just what led to the post. We’re guessing it wasn’t pretty.
The responses predictably ranged from the humorous to the enraged.
“I just want to confirm are we allowed to be in just our underwear or do we have to have actual pants on ;),” one person asked.
Many were like one responder who pointed out, “Checking your mail without pants is an American right.”
Another replied, “Hey, earlier you said we need to wear a mask. And NOW you’re telling me pants as well? Where will it end?!?”
One woman seemed to feel overlooked: “No one has ever warned me to quit checking my mailbox without pants on nor did I get this much attention. I must be doing it wrong.”
And yet another poster challenged the police by saying,”Define ‘pants.’ ”
Clearly, there are those who need the reminder. So, please, people: Wear pants.
