RUTLAND, Massachusetts -- Police Officer Mai Grover, in pursuit of a good book and a captivated audience, took to the internet Thursday morning and delivered a reading of "Yes We Can" by Sam McBratney. She was a guest reader, via Facebook, for Glenwood Elementary School's Community Reading Day.

"It was just a way to show the community that we're trying to keep things positive and keep the morale up in the town and the community," the officer said in an interview.

Community Reading Day was scheduled for Thursday at Glenwood Elementary. Like most schools, Glenwood usually has a lineup of police officers, firefighters and community leaders.

Grover said she chose "Yes We Can" because it teaches kids how to be positive and kind. It is also one of her favorites. She did the reading from the police station.

The video generated more than 3,000 views in a day.

Meantime, Rutland police officers and firefighters have been occasionally driving around town in their vehicles, running the lights and sirens to uplift the community. Grover said the reaction has been positive from both kids and the elderly.
