Retired New Hampshire State Police Capt. Jeff Ladieu, a former Army Ranger, has given Granite State veterans a run for their money. Did he ever.

Ladieu, who is executive director of Camp Resilience, a nonprofit working to help support the social, mental, and emotional well-being of military service members, veterans, first responders, and their families, finished his 222-mile run across the entire state of New Hampshire on Friday. As of Friday, Ladieu had raised $85,000 towards his $100,000 goal.

His run ended with a celebration at Pheasant Lane Mall. Each mile of his 10-day, roughly 22-mile-per-day trek represented one of 22 veterans who tragically lose their lives every day to suicide nationally.

He was joined by Gov. Kelly Ayotte and Pheasant Lane Mall’s General Manager Jack Toscano, both of whom ran the last two miles with him along with an escort from local first responders.

“It’s you guys out here that got me through the 222 miles. It’s the Granite Staters that got me through the Notch, the hills of Lancaster, in memory of those who are no longer with us. I run for all of them and I run for all of you,” Ladieu said during a post-run ceremony inside the mall.

The governor praised Ladieu’s efforts.

“So all the money that Jeff and the whole team in the mall and everyone has come together to raise, it’s to help make sure that our first responders, our veterans, those who are our true patriots and heroes, they know we have their backs and that they know we support them and we know what they experience is not easy and their families and that we are there for them,” Ayotte said. “That it’s brave. It’s brave to actually like come forward and ask for help.”
