Three drivers were taken into custody after Dearborn's police chief heard them squealing tires and performing stunts in the department's parking lot.

Three drivers who were doing "burnouts" outside a Michigan police station were arrested after the chief heard the commotion outside his window.

Security cameras recorded the incident, which happened in the parking lot of the Dearborn Police Department station, WDIV-TV reports. Drivers squealed and smoked their tires, while passengers hung out of windows as they raced off.

“When this happened, I was in my office and I could hear the sounds, and so were some of my other members of the department,” Chief Issa Shahin told the news outlet. “I literally looked out my window and saw these kids doing the burnout right in front of the police station.”

Before cars drove off, Shahin was able to get their license plate numbers. Officers then went out and apprehended the drivers.

All three drivers were arrested and charged with reckless driving. The cars were impounded, and two of them were forfeited to police.

“For Mayor (Abdullah) Hammoud and I, the No. 1 complaint for residents is going to be reckless and hazardous driving,” Shahin said. “People in this city want to see better driving habits on our roadways.”
