Project Description
For years, Longview’s police department made it work. What began as a headquarters for 82 staff members in 1977 evolved into a force of over 230, operating across a patchwork of expansions, off-site offices, and creative solutions, while maintaining a functional mission. But it was time to build a resilient, forward-looking headquarters that reflects the professionalism of its officers and the values of its community.
Informed by a 35-year space needs forecast and a department-wide programming effort, the design responds to how the team works today — and how they’ll grow tomorrow. Training, dispatch, investigations, evidence, and community outreach now share a connected, daylight-filled facility thoughtfully zoned for security. Its interiors elevate daily operations while supporting wellness, collaboration, and transparency.
Designed and built during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, with global supply chain disruptions and economic uncertainty, the project team responded with proactive planning, flexible sequencing, and determined coordination to maintain momentum. The facility finished on budget, opened on schedule, and welcomed hundreds of citizens with an open invitation to a new era of public trust.
Located beside City Hall, the headquarters forms part of a larger civic campus that prioritizes openness over restriction. Every architectural move signals service, stability, and strength, from its bold façade to its intuitive public interface. The building stands as a lasting investment in safety, efficiency, and shared civic pride.
Built for connection, resilience, and long-term value, the Longview Police Headquarters transforms decades of limitations into a foundation for progress. This headquarters symbolizes progress and defines a bold new chapter in how the department serves, grows, and leads in partnership with the community it protects.
