OFFICER Magazine Announces 2023 OFFICER Station Design Award Winners

Dec. 19, 2023
OFFICER Magazine announced the winners of its fourth annual OFFICER Station Design Awards (OSDA) program, which recognizes outstanding architecture and design from law enforcement and public safety facilities nationwide.

Nashville, TN, Dec. 19th, 2023— OFFICER Magazine announced the winners of its fourth annual OFFICER Station Design Awards (OSDA) program, which recognizes outstanding architecture and design from law enforcement and public safety facilities nationwide.

Gold, Silver and Bronze awards were issued across four categories of facilities in this prestigious competition: LE Facilities I, II, and III ((by size) and Public Safety Centers. All 17 participating entries will be published in the November/December issue of OFFICER Magazine and online at Officer.com.

“As a veteran officer with 40 years of experience, it never ceases to amaze me how design and materials continually change, meeting the new needs of an evolving society and community seemingly with ease,” Frank Borelli, Editorial Director for OFFICER Media Group, said. “As space becomes a premium, the designs must both welcome the public we serve, secure our workspace from intrusion, and hold the suspected criminals away from both of the other areas. Architecture and related firms are evolving just as quickly as the needs and requirements, and I believe that is clearly displayed among the winners.”

Paul Peluso, Managing Editor for OFFICER Magazine, noted the 2023 OSDA entries displayed several trends seen in the current landscape for law enforcement facilities. “Shared facilities continue to gain popularity due to shrinking budgets and dwindling land resources. Many of the entries included plans for future growth through the use of open spaces in design that can be easily configured.”

Peluso added, "While the projects were ranked as part of 2023 OSDA, every facility is a winner for the law enforcement agency and the community it serves.”

Winners were selected by a panel of three judges, which included Assistant Chief of Police Michael J. Kovacsev and Assistant Chief of Police David Gerardo the St. Petersburg Police Department in Florida, along with Amy Weber Bradlow, Senior Vice President of Harvard Jolly | PBK.
