Minn. Immigration Crackdown Ends: 'We've Seen a Big Change Here'
What to know
-
White House border czar Tom Homan announced the end of Operation Metro Surge in Minnesota, saying federal immigration agents will draw down over the next week and redeploy after what he called a successful crackdown that began in December.
-
Homan claimed over 4,000 arrests were made during the operation, and he said a smaller federal team will remain to respond to releases, address alleged agitator activity and continue a social services fraud investigation.
-
The operation prompted ongoing demonstrations in the Twin Cities, intensified after the January fatal shootings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti by federal agents.
