Designing for the Future of Public Safety Facilities
By Southcomm Business Media
Whether you are building the first law enforcement facility in your department’s history, or the 10th, you’ll notice that LE station designs have changed more in the past 10 years than they have in the past 30 years. And that gap is even wider when you consider the increased demands for new technology and station and personnel security.
The Station Design Conference is focused on sharing best practices and design innovations for new law enforcement facilities. The conference is designed for public safety officials and municipal leaders who are responsible for police and fire department facilities, from initial concept through construction. Presentations are by award-winning architects and department personnel experienced in creating new stations and public safety facilities.
It is still possible to build a police station or public safety facility to last 50 or 75 years, and we have the resources to help you learn how to do just that.
In a recent conversation with a police chief, he commented it was too soon to attend the Station Design Conference as they were still just in the talking stage, while another chief responded that it’s never too early to start learning what’s new and trending in public safety facilities.
On Wednesday, May 9, a new pre-conference LE Track will offer law enforcement personnel, city and municipal leaders the opportunity to meet individually with award-winning architects to review and discuss their new station or public safety project. This session offers an objective, third-party review that can save time and costly errors as you plan your next station. This unique program is limited to LE department personnel and administrators.
The General Session on Thursday, May 10, will begin with an overview of the journey to a new station and how to gain support from your community. Our presenters will provide a walk through the process of programming, reveal secrets of bidding/construction and discuss how to determine the right site selection.
Learn from case studies that will offer lessons learned and how to avoid costly errors and omissions. Finally, learn to design a secure station that is ready to deal with challenges in your community. Breakfasts and lunches will be provided to all registered attendees.
“We think the Station Design Conference at the Bob Bolen Public Safety Complex in Fort Worth is an excellent choice for this year,” said Janet Wilmoth, conference director. “Not only is the
Fort Worth law enforcement training facility an excellent example of a renovated, state-of-the-art facility, but the LE Track preconference will offer targeted educational programs and networking opportunities. ”
The 2018 Station Design conference will be held at the Bob Bolen Public Safety Complex in Fort Worth, TX. For more details and to register, visit www.fhstationdesign.com.
