The arrest of a New York State Police trooper by NYPD officers in the Bronx is reportedly creating a rift between the two agencies.

Since Trooper Dana Narvaez was arrested for drunk driving after being found passed out behind the wheel of his vehicle, the 45th Precinct has received threats of retaliation, according to The New York Daily News.

The callers, claiming to be troopers, have left heated messages, with one caller telling police "It's on."

The NYPD's union has let officers know about the threats and has encouraged everyone to obey the rules of the road while driving off duty.

"We just wanted the members to be careful on the road and obey the speed limit because they're looking," a union official told the newspaper. "We've been down this road before."

New York State Police Spokesman Beau Duffy said that Narvaez has been suspended without pay and that rumors of retaliation are "pure nonsense."

"That will not happen," he said. "The State Police have an outstanding relationship with the NYPD."
