OMAHA -- Nebraska State Patrol troopers are joining a veteran dispatcher in her fight against cancer.
When Dispatcher Barb Klinetobe was diagnosed with breast cancer this past winter, the troopers were instantly there for her, according to KETV.
"I couldn't ask for better people to work for," she told the news station. "My troopers mean the world."
The troopers helped package donation baskets for an upcoming benefit and a GoFundMe page was set up to help her pay for medical expenses.
"She's been there," Trooper Tom Grove said. "Before I became a trooper. She's always been there."
Trooper C.J. Alberico said that Klinetobe is "the calm on the other side of the phone."
The dispatcher of 35 years said that she owes a lot to her colleagues as she takes on the battle of her life.
"I feel like I can't let them down," she said. "I have to be there for them every day, to make sure they go home every night to their families."
Brea Nelson, who is the wife of a state trooper and a two-time cancer survivor herself, helped spearhead the fundraising efforts for Klinetobe.
"She's done so much to keep everybody, not just the troopers but the public safe as well," she said.
