Sheriff Blames Beyonce for Attack on House
A Tennessee sheriff whose house was the target of a drive-by shooting this week pointed to singer Beyonce's Super Bowl performance and music video as the cause.
Rutherford County Sheriff Robert Arnold told police that he heard eight gunshots outside his home on Osborne Lane in Murfreesboro around 9 p.m. Monday, according WTVF.
"I heard the popping sound and realized that it was gunfire, so I dropped to the floor and hollered for my wife and kids to get upstairs and to get back," Arnold told reporters.
Arnold spotted a dark grey Nissan Altima drive by and several shell casings recovered from the scene will be tested for prints.
During a press conference Tuesday, Arnold questioned whether the recent violence against law enforcement across the country is connected to Beyonce's performance.
"With everything that's happened since the Super Bowl," he said. When asked to clarify, he added, "You know, Beyonce’s video."
After his comment garnered attention on social media he released a statement in response:
"My comments reflect the violence and senseless killing of seven deputies in the U.S. since the show aired," he said. "My comments are an observation of the violence that has occurred but in no way is meant to offend anyone."
The motive for the shooting is currently unknown and the incident remains under investigation.
