Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker says that President Obama has contributed to an anti-police environment, which has led to officers being targeted.

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker on CNN Sunday made the claim that President Barack Obama has contributed to an anti-police environment, which has led to officers being targeted.

During the interview with Jake Tapper on "State of the Union," Walker -- a Republican presidential candidate -- said that Obama hasn't offered enough support for law enforcmenet officers.

"He's praised them, but he's not speaking out about the fact that this rhetoric out there. We had people say 'pigs in a blanket' at a rally, 'fry 'em up like bacon.' " he said, referring to a chant during a Black Lives Matter protest outside the Minnesota State Fair in late August. "That's the kind of thing you need to speak out about. You need to say that is wrong."

Walker said that while there is a need to improve relations in communities, it's not OK to go after officers just being they are wearing a uniform and have a badge.

"These are the men and women we need to stand up and protect us," he said. "We need to make sure they have the training and they follow through on that training."
