An inmate escaped from the Garland County jail through a service window in a booking area on July 28 and still remains on the loose.
Officials have labeled the escape of Derrick Estell, who had another inmate distract deputies, as an "elaborate plan" and consider the inmate armed, dangerous and "extremely aggressive," according to The Democrat-Gazette.
Video shows Estell on a phone in the booking area near the 1-foot-by 2-1/2-foot window used for visitation when made a break for it. Officials say inmate William Harding asked questions that drew two deputies to the opposite side of the room.
"Once the deputies were away from the window, Estell jumped the counter and slid out the window, with one of our deputies immediately following him through," Lt. James Martin said in a statement.
Officials said that Estell ran to a nearby alleyway where a woman driving a vehicle belonging to Harding was waiting for him.
A deputy tried to break the passenger-side window and suffered a minor injury to his hands.
The vehicle was found abandoned by authorities a short time later.
Martin said that Harding will be charged with assisting in or furnishing an implement for escape and remains in custody.
Investigators continue to pursue dozens of leads received in the search for Estell.
