N.C. Correctional Officer Dies After Fall

An officer at Mountain View Correctional Facility in Spruce Pine, N.C. has died following an accidental fall on the job, reports WLOS.com.

Officer William Wright, 31, served the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, Division of Adult Correction.

Early Monday, Wright fell from a metal staircase. He was trasnsported to a hospital for treatment of head injuries and was released the next day, WLOS.com reports. However, following complications, Wright died at home Wednesday.

State and federal officials are reportedly investigating the incident.
