Four units that house gang members at Washington State Penitentiary in Walla Walla are in lockdown after a fight involving inmates Saturday evening.
Four correctional officers were injured while breaking up the fight at 7:40 p.m. in the common area of one of the four living units in the West Complex.
All four officers were treated and released from a local hospital, according to a news release.
The West Complex is the prison's gang unit, and the four close-custody living units have the second-highest custody level at the prison. Each West Complex unit has 187 inmates.
The inmates had handmade sharpened weapons, according to a news release. Both were placed in a segregation unit.
The incident is under investigation.
All activities in the West Complex, including visiting, were canceled Sunday. Scheduled activities in the rest of the prison have not been changed.
The units were locked down earlier this month, after two prisoners were found fighting Jan. 31 in a different unit of the West Complex. A sharpened weapon was discovered after that fight was stopped. One prisoner was injured, but no staff members were harmed.
