June 12, 2016

Panoscan, Inc.'s GeoSLAM ZEB-REVO mobile 3D scanner for forensic applications is a long range scanner that quickly captures whole intersections for accident scene reconstruction, as well a entire homes, stadiums, and warehouses for diagramming a large scene to scale. This new handheld scanner has a range up to 100 feet in shade and 50 feet in direct sunlight and utilizes Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) algorithms to enable indoor and outdoor mapping without need for GPS satellite connection. The resulting survey data can be processed in the cloud or on your own desktop computer using a desktop application. It’s an amazingly fast solution for capturing larger areas in 3D.

Panoscan, Inc. manufactures high resolution panoramic cameras used by scores of law enforcement agencies worldwide to capture highly detailed crime scenes and create virtual tours of critical infrastructure for pre-incident emergency planning.

“Our fifteen years of experience at Panoscan developing and marketing panoramic cameras for forensic applications and GeoSLAM’s cutting edge 3D capture technology have come together to introduce the ZEB-REVO handheld 3D scanner to law enforcement in the United States” said Panoscan President, Ted Chavalas, “and the ZEB-REVO’s portability, and ease of use is ideal for 3D capture of accident and crime scenes and any surrounding areas relevant to the scene.”

GeoSLAM manufactures the ZEB1 and ZEB-REVO mobile 3D scanners for mapping and surveying applications with a presence in 32 countries across 6 continents.

Graham Hunter, Managing Director of GeoSLAM said “Our early adapters of the ZEB-REVO scanner have been thoroughly impressed with the ease of operation, vastly reduced scan time and accuracy of the resultant point cloud, all from surveying just one closed loop.”

“The ZEB‐REVO has been designed with versatility in mind” says GeoSLAM Chief Technical Engineer Ric Durrant. “The autonomous head rotation allows for the REVO sensor to be handheld but also backpack or pole mounted, trolley or vehicle based, or even attached to a UAV. Such versatility opens the doors to a wide variety of uses. “
