La. Police Chief Wounded in Accidental Shooting During Training

Breaux Bridge's police chief was rushed to the hospital after he was injured when his gun accidentally went off during a training exercise at the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office's shooting range.

The Breaux Bridge Chief of Police was hospitalized after an accidental shooting during training exercises, according to the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office.

Chief Albert LeBlanc was treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound after his gun accidentally went off during a training exercise around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, the sheriff's office said in a news release.

The injury happened at the sheriff's office shooting range. LeBlanc was quickly transported to a local hospital and has since been released, the release said.
