Body Camera Video Shows Tennessee Deputy, Officer Rescue Jumper

A newly released body camera footage shows a Knox County Sheriff's deputy and a Knoxville police officer save the life of a young man attempting to take his own life earlier this year.

KNOXVILLE, Tennessee -- A newly released body camera footage shows a Knox County Sheriff's deputy and a Knoxville police officer save the life of a young man attempting to take his own life earlier this year.

The video shows Officer Brian Rehg and Knoxville Police Lt. Chris McCarter grab and hold onto the man just seconds before he went over the bridge on Pleasant Ridge Road On April 8, according to a news release.

"Both Lt. McCarter and Officer Rehg are true local heroes, not just because of this one incident but because they continue to risk their lives daily for the safety of others," Knox County Sheriff Tom Spangler said in a statement. "Thank you gentlemen for your continued hard work and dedication to Knoxville and Knox County."
