Mo. Police Officer Shot, Wounded When Suspect Grabs Gun During Stop

Kansas City police were arresting an individual accused of driving impaired during a traffic stop when the suspect grabbed a firearm and began shooting, hitting an officer.

A Missouri police officer was shot and wounded during a traffic stop late Monday.

The incident happened shortly after 10:15 p.m. when Kansas City police pulled over an individual believed to be driving impaired, WDAF-TV reports. As police were arresting the person, the suspect grabbed a gun and opened fire.

One officer was struck by gunfire and taken to the hospital. The officer's injuries weren't considered life-threatening.

The suspect was finally taken into custody and arrested. The shooting is under investigation.
