NexarSOS 2.0 (Notification Exchange And Response)

Aug. 1, 2016

NexarSOS (Notification Exchange And Response) is a comprehensive alert and intervention system designed by first responders to give law enforcement the ability to respond to modern-day emergencies, like active shooter situations. The system was created after countless hours of research into these incidents, especially the tragedy that occurred at Sandy Hook Elementary, and identifying the shortcomings of the current response method.

The largest obstacle that first responders face is time: according to a study published by the FBI, most active shooter incidents last under just 5 minutes, whereas national average response times alone are at about 10 minutes (not including the time it takes for someone to call 911 and for the information to be relayed to dispatch). In 60% of the events studied, the incident had ended before police arrived. The goal of NexarSOS is to take a pro-active approach to emergency response and give law enforcement the tools they need to respond instantly and save lives.

The NexarSOS system is a combination of panic buttons, door locks, cameras, intercoms, and status lights installed on a site location, such as a school or office building, all of which are effortlessly managed by authorities via the NexarSOS Workstation. The system does not require full-time monitoring or additional personnel, making it very cost effective and easy to use.

When a panic button has been pressed, law enforcement is immediately notified and the site is locked down. Within an instant, authorities are aware and on their way to the scene, using their response time as planning time, all while those in the vicinity are safely behind locked doors. Local cameras activate on site and relay real-time information about the situation. As first responders arrive, they know exactly what they’re getting into.

NexarSOS also establishes direct two-way communication through an integrated PA/Intercom system. By allowing those in the vicinity to communicate information directly with law enforcement and allowing law enforcement to communicate directly with the suspect, more accurate information can be attained to further enhance the response. Where verbal communication is not possible, strategically placed color changing status lights flash and change color to silently direct those on site to safety and lead first responders to the scene.

The system is also practical for every day use. The panic button unit contains up to three buttons: yellow, for a minor incident or disturbance; blue, for a medical emergency; red, for a major large-scale emergency for which assistance is required. In schools, for example, the yellow button has been used daily to document disruptive students, report altercations, or simply to escort students to their cars.

While pundits and politicians argue about how we can stop violence in our schools and workplaces, NexarSOS stands alone in creating a completely modular approach to site safety through instant notification, alert, and remote intervention. As was said best in “The Final Report of the Sandy Hook Advisory Commission”, “Situational awareness is critical to threat identification and the summoning of emergency response…. Seconds and minutes equate to lives lost or saved.” Visit www.nexarsos.com to learn more and install NexarSOS today!
