WatchGuard Video has introduced the first true high fidelity digital wireless microphone for police in-car video systems. The WatchGuard High Fidelity Wireless Microphone is based on a high power industrial radio modem with a fractal antenna which provides range of 1 to 2 miles and near CD audio quality. The system is also able to maintain an audio signal through almost any commercial building, even hospitals.
Thanks to its high data bit rate, the system transmits the digital audio stream at near CD audio rates, which makes audio recordings much more lifelike. The high audio quality also increases the intelligibility of speech. An automatic gain control helps to keep the sound of passing trucks from causing distortion or drowning out voices.
An "Intelligent Standby" mode helps achieve up to 30 hours of talk time or about one month of standby time on a single charge. The microphone system uses the same Lithium Polymer rechargeable battery used in the iPod Classic, so replacements are available at many retailers.
